OUT OF Goggle Shift Tempesta Red MCI Bonus Persimmon

The Shift visor has a simple and very fast lens change system, if a cloud obscures the sun you will be ready in a few seconds with the most suitable lens!

Just open the lever on the left of the mask, tilt the lens and you’re done.

The optimised "second lens"

Many Out Of masks include a second lens for bad weather, often this "second lens" is little considered, but it is in the difficult conditions of bad weather that the right lens can help us get down better.

Storm has been developed thanks to hundreds of spectrophotometric measurements at high altitude carried out in fog conditions, during snowfall, with overcast and without trees, These are the most critical conditions because they make it very difficult to perceive the shape of the ground.

Being always accompanied by a lens for good weather we were able to develop a very specific lens, therefore also very effective.

How does it work?

When the sky is covered and we are surrounded by snow everything seems white and indistinguishable, for the human brain the parts of the ground in "shadow" and those more illuminated are practically identical, However, if we analyze the light in those two points with a spectrophotometer we find that it is not quite so.
There are in fact wavelengths where the differences are greater, others where they are smaller.

The Strom lens discards the most similar parts of light and holds those where the differences are strongest improving the perception of the ground.

Why only the second lens?
An optimized lens in extreme synthesis alters the colors of the image to increase the contrast, but not always increase the contrast is necessary.

In good weather, a more natural view of the colors is preferable, while the perception of the shape of the ground is not problematic.

In collaboration with the physics department of the University of Milan

The Storm lens is the result of a research program carried out in collaboration with the physics department of the University of Milan

The great capacity of the researchers involved allowed to acquire a huge amount of data in the environment and to develop a mathematical model that then defined, at each point, the absorption spectrum of the lens.

Main lens: Red MCI
  • Red/orange mirroring, cold transparency
  • S2
  • Ideal for: Variable, not very sunny
Secondary lens included: Storm
  • Pink transparency, spectrum optimized for bad weather conditions, no mirroring.
  • Ideal for: Overcast, snowfall, heavy fog
